Two very private, fully furnished cottages located in a tropical garden, only minutes away from beaches, hiking restaurants and shopping.

Our quiet retreat is tucked away in spacious Wailua Homesteads, just above Opaekaa Falls. In fact, we are located on Opaekaa Road, a short drive up from the mouth of the Wailua River.

The cottages are nestled in a garden of exotic tropical plants and trees. Guests can enjoy such fruits as bananas, avocados, papayas, pineapples, oranges and more, when in season.

Wailua Homesteads is a delightful mixture of residences and pasture areas, which 100 years ago were ranches and rolling grasslands. The area gives you a beautiful feeling you can't get anywhere else on Kauai.

Areca Cottage
A spacious cottage (over 1000 sq.ft.), with open ceilings, perfect for a couple or family of up to five persons. It has large full length windows which look out over the private tropical garden that surrounds this hideaway. The master bedroom has queen size and twin size beds and a writing desk. Two twin size beds are in a loft bedroom area above the kitchen. There is a living / dinning area and a full bath with shower. The full kitchen will allow preparation of any meal, large or small. There is a lanai around the cottage where you can sit and enjoy cool breezes under the shade of the surrounding areca palms.

Poinciana Cottage
The smaller of our cottages (450 sq.ft.), has open beam ceilings with ceiling van, all tile floors and a large picture window above the kitchen / dinning area. A king size bed allows for comfortable sleeping and the bathroom has a large shower and a venting skylight. The patio area has mature trees and tropical plants and flowers. Very private. All new interior.

Features and Activities

We are located only minutes away from some of the nicest beaches and restaurants on the island. You can kayak on the nearby Wailua River. Or, if you like to hike, Nounou "the sleeping giant", a distinctive landmark and county park, is less than a half-mile away, and has a number of great trails and splendid views. There are public tennis courts down the road. The Wailua Golf Course and Lydgate Beach Park are only a few mintes drive.
