Question:
Do you offer free trials?
Answer:
In a nutshell, we can't afford to stay competitive and get you more real
visitors and renters for your property while giving our services away for free!
We had to make this decision very early on, and realized that we simply could not
afford to market our site out of our own pockets and still be effective...
We don't want to be another one of "those sites" that vanishes after a short time.
We currently list some 1200+ rental properties and we no longer see our site as being in the
"introductory" stage. We also average as of January 1300+ unique visitors, not hits
per day. We rank in the top 10 on Google, Yahoo, AOL and quite a few others just under the term
"vacation rentals" which was not an easy task to do. We are very committed to our
customers and customer service, and we are literally available to our customers by phone
or email both day and evening.
Question:
What makes this site different from other Vacation Rental sites?
Answer:
We work our site; meaning customer service by Runaway Rentals is hands down the best out
there. We continually work to better our site not only for our customers but also for
easier navigation for visitors and of course fine-tuning our site for search engines and
directories.
We are realistic! We won't sit here and tell you that you will get hundreds of
bookings from our site, though it would be nice, that really is not our job. Our job is
to bring people to the site to contact you, and then it is your job to sell the rental
to the renter that we brought in.
Regarding search engines: Do a search on "vacation rentals", without the quotes of
course, on Google, yahoo, AOL, or Alexa, and you will find us, 10th presently but we seem
to be jumping from between 7th-10th past couple months and we are working on even higher
placement. That's just one search phrase but we work on quite a few more.
Our site is FULL SERVICE! We add every listing ourselves with care and in a very
timely manner. All photos are resized and compressed to give your listing(s) a much faster
load time. In all, we take the hassle out of the html and design elements of advertising
your properties because we do it all for you! We also perform a spelling and grammar
check before listings are posted to the site.

Question:
What is the difference between "hits" and "visitors?"
Answer:
We have been asked often what difference, (if any), there is between the amount of
"hits" and the amount of "visitors" displayed by counters on the Internet. There is
actually a very big difference!
Just remember, the most important number to any site is the number of unique visitors,
not the amount of times those visitors visit each of the pages of the website.
Hit Counters: The numbers on a "hit" counter grow each time a page (or in some
cases multiple pages) on a website is viewed, or reloaded. It counts each time it is visited,
so essentially, one visitor could make a counter jump from 100 hits to 200 hits in a matter
of minutes!
Visitor Counters: There are counters and scripts available online which count
only the "Unique Visitors" to a site. By logging the visitor's IP address, it ensures that
this visitor only accounts for one visit to the website, no matter how many pages they visit
or how many times they reload the page.
Question:
Can you take photos from my website to use on my listing?
Answer:
Yes we can, but we only do so with your written request or permission.
Question:
Can I have a link to my website in my property listing(s)?
Answer:
For an additional $20 charge you may have a link to your own website from your
Runaway Rentals listing. Please note that we do not have a program in place to
track the visitors you receive through us. It is your responsibility to track
visitors from other sites, and determine what sites are bringing visitors directly to
your website.
Question:
How often do you submit to search engines? Which ones do you submit to?
Answer:
We make regular submissions to over 50,000 search engines & directories worldwide, including
Webcrawler, Excite, Google, Alexa, NorthernLight and more. We also purchase direct submission
with a few of the large engines such as... Altavista, AOL Search, GoTo.com, HotBot,
LookSmart, iWon, C|Net MSN, NBCi, Overture, and Yahoo.
Question:
Do you allow banner ads on your site?
Answer:
Sorry, we do not allow banner ads on our site, though we do allow them on our "links" pages,
located at http://www.runawayrentals.com/links.html
Question:
What is a URL?
Answer:
A URL is a web address. (Example: http://www.runawayrentals.com/ is our URL)
Question:
Why isn't my city listed on your site?
Answer:
We probably don't have any listings there yet. We add locations to our site as they are
needed, and as they are requested.
