A Bird Watcher's Paradise

Patience Villa is a two-bedroom, 2 1/2-bath, private home with a full Jamaican staff. The villa is located on a hill in a bird sanctuary and the local bird population is varied and beautiful. You can stay in-touch with the world by phone and your child will sleep safely in our crib.

Frenchman's Cove- A beautiful picturesque spot. This beach is complete with a fresh water stream running into it, a rope swing, and lots of fun. A small paved road leads up to the beach from the entrance area. A small fee is required, but it is not more than $100 Jamaican dollars (roughly $2). Upon arriving at the beach's pure white sands you have a choice of things to do. A fresh water stream runs into the cove. This stream is nice to relax in, and fun to swing into off of the rope swing. The cove itself is fantastic. There are large stone walls surrounding the cove and its aquamarine water. Hot food and drinks are also served here. This beach is a 5 minute walk downhill from the villa, or a 1-minute drive.

Fairy Hill- A local beach. The beach here is well groomed and taken care of. Complete with a bar and restaurant to order anything you desire.

Dragon Bay- One of the most popular resorts on the island. This hot spot has been the focus of several popular movies, such as Cocktail. This resort offers a great beach with a great bar and restaurant to go with it. A pool is located 20 feet from the surf. At nights Dragon Bay offers interesting entertainment. Live music and fire breathing entertainers are present at your dinner.

Long Bay- Approximately ten miles. Great for running, relaxing, and for picnics. Be careful of undertow in some areas. The locals will show you where it is safe to swim. A very nice beach to relax at.

Boston Bay- This beach is famous for its Jerk Pork and Jerk Chicken. Jerk is a style of cooking, and it is delicious. This is the place to be for good Jamaican cooking and for good times. Ting is also sold here, the local soda. It goes great with the food.

Winifred Beach- Possibly the most beautiful beach in Jamaica. Winifred has a very interesting history, ask the locals about it when you visit. Winifred is a public beach in the small town of Fairy Hill. It is operated by the locals who charge a small use fee.

Port Antonio- Port Antonio is the local town. It is about 5 minutes by car. The local market in Port Antonio is always interesting. You can buy fish, meat, grain, dairy products, cereal, t-shirts, souvenirs, and novelties all in the same market. The fish and meat are all freshly caught, so freshness is guaranteed. You can have Zen, the cook, buy food for you. Not only does Port Antonio offer shopping, but also you can charter a fishing boat for the day from the marina. Some of the best fishing on the island is available here. You can catch Marlin, Mahi-Mahis and other large fish. There are also several restaurants in town.

Reich Falls- This is one of the nicest places on the entire island. It is tucked away in the jungle about 25 minutes from the house by car. This natural cascade offers diving off the top of the falls from two places, both are extremely fun. You can also travel further upstream and visit the many natural pools and cascades. One pool in particular creates a natural jet system like you find in a hot tub. It is quite relaxing. Both the movie Cocktail and the newer version of the Lord of The Flies have scenes taped at these falls.
